Tomorrow is Good Friday and Sunday is Easter. Those holidays don’t mean much for a lot of families. It’s just another routine Friday followed by a warm spring day where kids get all the candy they want and hunt for colorful eggs.
There’s a deeper significance to those days that many people overlook. I remember years ago, back when video stores were still around. My wife and I went looking for a well-known film that told the story of Easter. We couldn’t find it on the shelf, so we asked the young lady behind the counter if they had it available. She pointed us to several kids’ videos that explained how to decorate eggs. We said, “No, we’re looking for a video about the real story of Easter.”
Judging by the confused look on her face, she had no idea what we were talking about.
A lot of people seem confused about the true message of Easter. The deeper meaning has been lost behind cute bunny rabbits and mountains of chocolate.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Christian faith, or if the busyness of life has dulled the power of your faith and of the beauty of Good Friday and Easter, you’ll want to join us for our next couple of radio programs.
At a recorded event, author and British evangelist J.John shares why he is certain that the teachings of Christianity are absolutely true. With plenty of humor, he reminds us on “Reasons to Believe in Jesus” why only Christianity can fill our lives with real hope in the midst of the problems of this world. You’ll learn while you’re laughing.
Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it’s the foundation of Christianity – God saving humanity in a way it could never save itself. It’s about life overcoming death and setting our futures on a positive course. It’s about filling our lives with genuine hope!
