Where does your significance come from? Where does your sufficiency come from? Where does your security come from?
Materialism, marketing, and social media skew our perspective. We compare ourselves with movie stars, professional athletes, and Facebook friends who post about their newest car or their latest vacation – and we don’t measure up.
The secret to a joyful, fulfilled life is to see who you are in Christ.
The late Dr. Adrian Rogers shared a powerful message at one of our chapel services many years ago. He said that when we know our identity in Christ – when we understand who we truly are – it changes how we engage the world around us, including our families, our neighbors, and our co-workers.
You’ll never have any higher significance than to be a child of God, blood-bought, and “called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28, ESV).
You’ll never have more sufficiency than when you belong to the Lord. God empowers us to “possess our possessions.” When God told Joshua to go into the Promised Land, He told him, “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you” (Joshua 1:3,ESV).
You’ll never have more security than when your life is entrusted to Christ. The Bible says, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, ESV).
Dr. Rogers says, “Faith is my acceptance of God’s acceptance of me.”
Where does your significance come from? Where does your sufficiency come from? Where does your security come from?
It’s all found in the Person of Jesus Christ.
