Caring for Elderly Parents with Grace and Honor

The first indication something was wrong with Jane’s father was after a situation she now calls the “splintering incident.”

He was 87 years old and had driven into the side of the garage. “His foot slipped off the brake,” her mother told her.

Jane and her husband Mike laughed it off. “After all,” they thought, “that kind of thing happens, right?” Only, the same thing happened just a couple of weeks later.

That was the beginning of a long season of tough decisions and rollercoaster emotions for Jane and her husband, Mike.

Two Olympians and Three Videos

Tomorrow millions of families around the world will tune in to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

There’s something special about the Olympics, isn’t there? Cheering on the United States – or whatever your “home” country is – adds a welcomed, unique layer to the thrill of sports.

It’s also interesting to “meet” the athletes and learn their amazing stories. So many of them have overcome seemingly impossible odds to compete in the Games.

Dr. Tony Evans on Growing Boys into Men

You hear a lot of theories tossed about in the media to explain why our culture has suffered such a steep moral decline – things like economic pressures, a lack of educational opportunities, etc., etc.

I’m sure each, in their own way, plays a role. But there’s one factor that I believe is consistently overlooked: the poor state of manhood.

Four Ways Parents Can Protect Their Kids from Sexting

It’s the type of story that makes parents shudder:

Students exchanging nude photos on their phones.

Members of the Cañon City High School football team here in Colorado allegedly exchanged and collected hundreds of nude photographs of more than 100 students. Some of the students photographed were in middle school. And it seems all of this was part of a competition where points were assigned per picture.

As a colleague remarked, if this type of scandal is occurring in a small town like Cañon City, you know it’s happening all over America.

Four Things You Can Do NOW About the Latest Planned Parenthood Scandal

Planned Parenthood Scandal

The Center for Medical Progress released a secretly recorded video yesterday of Planned Parenthood’s top doctor describing how the organization sells the body parts of aborted preborn babies.

It’s difficult to watch:

Over lunch and wine, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the Senior Director of Medical Services, describes how she harvests organs during the abortions she performs on babies up to 24 weeks gestational age. She explains how the procedure involves the doctors using ultrasound technology to guide their forceps:

You’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part.
