How AI Is Shaping Our View of Reality

It’s remarkable that technology has become so sophisticated that disclaimers like that are necessary. But it’s true. Artificial intelligence is now a part of our everyday lives. Much of it is positive. Medical software can diagnose illnesses and predict treatment success. Language tools enhance research and writing. Generative tools have accelerated math and computations to unimaginable speeds.

But AI is also frequently used for purposes that are hazardous. Deepfakes, chatbots, and AI systems are causing confusion and concern. AI is used by students to cheat on homework, by people of questionable character to create images of people with their clothing removed, and by clergy to craft Sunday sermons. Some people are even replacing human relationships with AI robots.

When society loses its shared commitment to truth, we lose our ability to collaborate, solve problems, and move forward with positivity.

AI is so concerning and confusing to so many of us that I’ve invited Abdu Murray to join me for a conversation about it on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly. He’s a speaker, author, and attorney who has written a book titled Fake ID: How AI and Identity Ideology Are Collapsing Reality – and What to Do About It.

Abdu tells people that if AI improves your ability to engage the real world, it’s a tool. However, if it impairs your God-given gifts and makes the real world feel distant, it’ll become a trap.
