I’ve grown accustomed to interviewing guests on the Focus on the Family radio program, a daily treat for me now for over 10 years. But it’s always an honor to have the tables turned and be on the receiving end of the questions.
Late last month, I had the pleasure of being a guest on a podcast called “Beyond the Crucible.”
The show is hosted by Crucible Leadership founder Warwick Fairfax and my longtime friend and former Focus colleague Gary Schneeberger. Warwick’s insights on overcoming life’s crucible experiences were personally and painfully earned. He was only 26 when, as the fifth-generation heir to a media empire bearing his family name, he led — and lost — a public takeover bid that cost his family $2.25 billion.
What happened next?
The company founded by his great-great grandfather slipped from family control after 150 years, leaving him to examine not only his own shortcomings and losses, but also his life’s principles, lessons he learned from family members who came before him, and some of history’s greatest leaders. By shaping these insights as a leadership adviser and executive coach, Fairfax has enabled others to learn from their own crucible experiences and emerge to lead lives of significance rooted in who they are.
I hope you’ll enjoy the conversation. You can find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, or Stitcher.
