Every Single Vote Matters

Elections are right around the corner. Why does your vote matter?

In 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States legalized abortion in America. Since then, according to numbers from the CDC and the Guttmacher Institute, an estimated 63,000,000 babies have been aborted.

For decades, Christians and prolife advocates have toiled without much success in overturning national pro-abortion laws. Even now, the reversal of Roe v. Wade does not end the fight over abortion.

Truly ending abortion will require more than attacking abortion as morally wrong; it will require building a society that is pro-life. For that to happen, the Christian community must advocate for and build a society that supports marriages and families, that cares for the vulnerable, and that values every human person.

To that end, we’ve invited our friend Dr. Al Mohler to be our guest on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Every Single Vote Matters” to explain why every single pro-life battle over the past 50 years has depended on Christians to stand bravely on God’s Word and to vote rightly.

Dr. Al Mohler is the president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary – the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world.

He urges Christians not to be complacent at election time. Every single election matters, and voting is a privilege and an important responsibility.

Dr. Mohler shares three reasons to take voting seriously:

  • Voting is a privilege and a right. Millions of people around the world only dream about having an opportunity to vote.
  • Voting is our duty. As citizens of a representative form of government, we are the decision-makers. We can vote our values and have an influence on issues of life, religious liberty, and other godly pursuits in the future.
  • Voting is an act of love and compassion for our neighbors. Failing to vote risks harm and chaos on society.

The Founding Fathers of America pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for our freedoms and rights. Americans are blessed with a government, as Lincoln described, “of the people, by the people, for the people.”

Hear our conversation on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app. Then get out there and vote!

As Election Day approaches, know that Focus on the Family partners with 39 state-level public policy organizations across the country, all of whom are dedicated to the Gospel of Christ, the well-being of the family, the sanctity of life and religious freedom. Many of these organizations offer voter guides to help concerned Christians understand where their local candidates stand on the issues. For more information, click here.

Before I close, one of the best things you can do to support life is to participate in our Option Ultrasound program. Abortion clinics are interested in abortion. Pregnancy resource centers minister to everyone involved: the woman, the man, the baby, the family.

Our Option Ultrasound program provides grants for sonogram training and technology. To date, more than 800 ultrasound machines have been placed around the country, and more than 470,000 babies have been saved.

We’re working hard to raise that number to one million babies saved sometime in the near future. I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us. What’s amazing is that it only takes $60 to save a baby’s life by providing ultrasound machines and additional resources. (Check here for details.)

Thank you for touching others with the love of Christ.
