I wonder if you’ve ever thought of raising your children as an act of worship to the Lord.
Author Gary Thomas calls that “sacred parenting.” That term isn’t meant to drum up imagery of a mom and dad who have “arrived” spiritually and emotionally and are pulling their kids up to their level of perfection. It’s more the idea that we’re guiding our children along the same journey that we’re on. We’re all experiencing victory and stumbling from time to time, all the while seeking forgiveness, redemption, and growth in God’s grace.
With that model, kids see through us how to live a life centered in Christ, how to seek forgiveness, how to see God in everyday life, and how to live as committed Christians who love and sacrifice for the benefit of others.
Drawing your children into the faith isn’t about saying the right things, but about modeling the right things. Being, not doing, is what leads our children to God’s kingdom.
How do you fill your home with that kind of authenticity and grace? Gary Thomas is with us on our broadcast to help you gain a fresh perspective on your role as a mom or a dad, and on God’s purpose for your parenting. He’ll help you learn to be present in the parenting process and to have the eyes to see the spiritual wonder that’s taking place.
