C.S. Lewis once said, “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea until they have something to forgive.”
Isn’t that true? We all want a fairy tale ending to our pain, but we struggle to do the messy, difficult work of forgiving someone who’s hurt us so deeply.
Lysa TerKeurst didn’t think she could ever forgive her husband after he engaged in a long, drawn-out affair. She misunderstood the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, thinking they existed together, like two sides of a coin. And because reconciliation wasn’t possible, forgiveness wasn’t possible, either.
Her resistance to forgive also stemmed from another misunderstanding: to forgive was the same as believing that the betrayal against her didn’t matter.
On our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Embracing Messy, Beautiful Forgiveness,” Lysa shares how she found freedom from her bitterness and how she trusted God to heal her broken heart.
If you are struggling to overcome unresolved hurt or pain in your life, I encourage you to listen to my conversation with Lysa on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app. God is eager to heal you and set you free.

– I’d like to get multiple copies of the Forgiving What You Can’t Forget. I’d like to do this through a donation to your organization rather than purchase from a bookstore. I’m glad to donate retail price for each one. Please tell me how to proceed.
