Staying Connected to God

First Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Life often gets in the way of our desire to connect with Jesus as our source of contentment and joy. We get busy raising children, investing in our marriages, and building our careers. We get distracted by technology and lost in tough circumstances. Life overwhelms us, and we disconnect from God.

Pastor and author John Burke has disciplined himself to stay connected with God moment by moment. His desire to help his church also experience God that way motivated him to develop the “60-60 Experiment,” a challenge that inspires Christians to stay in continuous conversation with God for 60 days.

Pastor Burke describes the 60-60 Experiment’s potential for transformation as a “soul revolution” where we learn to experience moment-by-moment connection to God that fulfills our deepest longings and transforms us into life-giving people.

John Burke is with us on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Staying Connected to God: a 60-Day Challenge” to give us a clear picture of how to do life with God in a way that empowers you to trust Him with your strongest and deepest desires.

John shares how to connect with God by:

Like branches connected to the Vine, John’s 60-60 Experiment can help God’s peace and love overflow into your prayer life, your relationships, and everything you do. Tune in for our conversation on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app. This program is part of our “Best of” programs for 2022, airing throughout the month of December.

John Burke is the founder and pastor of Gateway Church in Austin, Texas. He’s married to Kathy, and they have an adult son and daughter. He’s also the author of several books, including Soul Revolution: How Imperfect People Become All God Intended, which is full of stories and practical ways to dive deeper into the 60-day challenge and develop new habits for leaning into God’s presence.

John’s book is available for a gift of any amount. And when you help Focus on the Family today with a gift, your donation will be DOUBLED for twice the impact in helping others through this ministry. Our thanks to generous donors who’ve made that possible. For more information, click here. Or call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
