Homemade Meals for Busy Families

The holidays are over, and you’re probably running at high speed in a lot of directions.

The end of the workday doesn’t mean your work is over. Somebody has to pick up the kids from soccer practice and run to the store for groceries. After that, you still have to get home and make dinner, which can take a couple of hours once you cook, eat, and clean up the mess.

Who’s got time for that?

I think I have the answer you’ve been looking for. Or I should say, Mary Beth Lagerborg has the answer you’ve been looking for. She’s the author of Once-A-Month Cooking Family Favorites. She’s also our guest on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Homemade Meals for Busy Families.”

She teaches how to create meal plans that will get you out of the kitchen and to the dinner table, so busy families can reap the benefits of eating dinner together.

Dinner time has always been a priority in the Daly household. Jean gets the credit for that. She works hard to ensure that our family is together around the table for the evening meal. It would be easy to set out a plate of sandwiches that each of us could swipe as we scurry through the kitchen on our way to somewhere else apart from each other. Instead, we all enjoy table time together, talk about our day, and generally catch up, without interruptions.

Eating together as a family is about more than food. It’s a time for socializing, sharing, celebrating, and encouraging one another. But what do you do when you’re too busy to fix a big meal every night? Hiring a chef or buying pre-packaged dinners can be expensive. And while cooking can be a time of togetherness as well, maybe you don’t want to spend all of your free time in the kitchen.

Mary Beth Lagerborg will share how once-a-month cooking may be the answer you’re looking for. Join us on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

Mary Beth’s book Once-A-Month Cooking Family Favorites is full of delicious, family-friendly recipes divided into three cooking specialties: gourmet, summertime, and gluten-free. For a gift of any amount, we’ll send you a copy as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ.
