Every 24 hours, 205 billion emails are sent. Every second, 60,000 tweets are posted to the “Twitterverse.” That’s 3,600,000 tweets per minute.
Many of us have a lot to say.
That should be of some concern when you consider verses like James 3:8, which reminds us that the things we say can be “a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”
That’s why it’s important for us to think before we speak … or text … or Snapchat. There’s little distinction between the “tongue” that speaks evil and the fingers that text it. It all comes from the heart and the consequences can be harmful to us and to others. People lose their jobs. Reputations get ruined.
How do we protect ourselves?
Dr. Emerson Eggerichs did a study about effective communication and concluded that there are four components, like legs on a table. If one of the four is missing, your communication will be poor.
Before you hit Send, ask, “Is my statement…”
True?
Kind?
Necessary?
Clear?
There are many other practical things we can do as well. Dr. Emerson Eggerichs is with us on our broadcast to help us better interact with people through social media.
