Focus President Jim Daly Statement on Leaked Draft of Dobbs’ Opinion

“The Supreme Court’s Office of Public Information has confirmed the authenticity of the draft of the Dobbs’ opinion leaked to media – but stressed the highly-anticipated decision is still pending. I hope and pray the strong sentiments and solid legal reasoning expressed in the document will soon be final.

“Returning this issue to the states is an important first step in the effort to relegate the barbarism of abortion to the dust heap of history. Championing the dignity and respect of all life is not radical – it’s the mark and measure of a civilized culture.

Discovering Your Love Style

Happy marriage

Do you know your love style?

We’ve all got one. It started forming back in childhood when your mom and dad listened to you, encouraged you to share your feelings, and taught you how much you mattered.

Or maybe they didn’t.

For good or for bad, our earliest relational experiences form the roots for how – or if – we emotionally attach to others. Ideally, we had an abundance of positive moments that enabled us to become what authors and counselors Milan and Kay Yerkovich call “secure connectors.”

Jesus was the personification of the “secure connector” love style.

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly Applauds Unanimous Decision Upholding Flying of Christian Flag

The U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous decision today upholding the constitutionality of a Christian flag displayed on government property in Shurtleff v. City of Boston is welcome though long overdue news. It should be obvious to all that banning one flag – the Christian flag – out of dozens flown on behalf of civic groups at events on public property over a period of years is unacceptable discrimination against the Christian viewpoint. Thankfully, the Court got it right in this instance.

Moms and Dads Don’t Check Their Rights at the School Door

Once upon a time, public school educators and administrators routinely complemented the work of parents in the home.

No more.

With increasing regularity, moms and dads find themselves battling “woke” policies along with radical politicians and activists seeking to usurp their rights and threaten the health and safety of their kids.

Two years ago, January Littlejohn’s 13-year-old daughter came home from school and shared with her mom that her Florida middle school had given her the option of which bathroom she would prefer to use – girls or boys.

How Godly Thinking Can Transform Your Life

The devil, the enemy of our souls, wants to rob us of every good thing associated with our lives in Christ.

In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”

In December of 2012, five days before Christmas, Pastor Levi Lusko was confronted by the horrible truth of that verse when his five-year-old daughter Lenya died after a severe asthma attack.

Since then, Levi has wrestled through questions and doubts that arise in painful moments.

Connecting with Your Grandchildren

Mother and son

Although grandparenting is still a few years off for Jean and me, we’re both looking forward to the unexpected laughs that grandchildren bring.

Like the tea party one six-year-old held for her grandmother. After escorting grandma into the living room and offering her a seat at a table set up with a plastic tea set and snacks, they sipped their “tea” (which was actually just water) and laughed together for a half hour.

When the teapot was empty, the granddaughter announced that she was going for a refill.

Nurturing Your Spouse’s Heart

Communication

My marriage enjoyed a significant boost a few summers ago on a family vacation to Glacier National Park in Montana.

Jean, the boys, and I hiked to a place called Hidden Lake. It was spawning season for the trout, and the bears were especially active. From where we were several hundred yards away, we could see the bears splashing through the water hunting for fish.

I should say my boys and I could see them. Jean is nearsighted, and we didn’t have our binoculars with us, so she couldn’t see anything.

Why are People Afraid of Coach Kennedy?

After nearly seven years of being sidelined for his faith, Coach Joe Kennedy finally had his day at the Supreme Court today.

Formerly of Bremerton High School in Washington, Kennedy refused a school district order to stop praying on the 50-yard-line of the team’s field after games.

In his eight years at the school, Kennedy mentored hundreds of football players – young men who considered him a good man to emulate. For the coach, his role on the sidelines wasn’t just a job – but a calling from God.

Discovering What It Means to Be a Man

Fatherhood

What qualities define masculinity?

In 1927, Charles Lindbergh became the first man to successfully fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. His accomplishment took grit and toughness. Which is why Pastor Mark Batterson uses Lindbergh as an example for the kind of qualities a man needs to be successful as a husband, a father, a worker, and a follower of Christ.

Lindbergh’s historic flight aboard The Spirit of St. Louis took 33 hours, 30, and 30 seconds.Lindbergh was awake for nearly 55 hours.

Encouraging Your Husband to Be a Hero

A lot of women enter marriage with high expectations. They expect connection, conversation, and intimacy with their husbands.

But when the intensity of that initial romance fades – as it always does – some wives begin to wonder, “Did I marry the wrong man?”

Dr. Juli Slattery’s answer to that question is: “The secret of intimacy in marriage is not finding a hero to be your husband but finding the hero in your husband.”

To achieve that, Dr.
