Dog Days of Marriage

Believe it or not, you can learn a lot about your marriage from a little dog named Tidbit.

He’s the ugliest dog I think I’ve ever seen. He’s a two and a half pound Yorkie Poo – a mix between a Poodle and Yorkshire Terrier. He’s 15 years old and quirky. He’s afraid to walk across tile floors and is too small to get up and down the stairs on his own. He looks bad, too. So bad you almost feel sorry for him. He’s lost teeth, some fur, and runs on three legs because the fourth is arthritic.

But Tidbit is healthier than he looks. In fact, his owners took him to the vet for testing, to make sure he wasn’t sick. They were told looks can be deceiving. Tidbit is in surprisingly good health for his age.

Likewise, your marriage may not look so hot, either, but don’t underestimate its potential. You can rediscover the parts of your relationship that made you want to be together in the first place. But to find it, you can’t give up on each other just because your relationship looks like it could breathe its last at any moment. Your marriage probably has a lot more life flowing through it than you realize.

If your marriage is in trouble, we have caring, Christian counselors who will listen, pray with you, and get you on a path toward healing and hope. They’ll also direct you to additional resources in your area. Call us, leave your name and number, and we’ll get back with you as soon as possible. The number during business hours is 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).

Even if you’re on the brink of divorce, our Hope Restored marriage intensives can go a long way toward facilitating healing between you and your spouse and restoring your relationship. The number for Hope Restored is 1-866-875-2915, or click here for more information. The intensives take place in five locations.
