School is well underway across the country, which brings up concerns and questions for many parents:
• What’s being taught?
• How do we help our kids think biblically?
• What do we do when the culture moves further and further away from God’s truth?
• How do I most effectively involve myself in my child’s education?
To answer those questions and others, I’ve invited Dr. Larry Taylor and Dr. Barry Corey to join me on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.
Dr. Taylor is the President and CEO of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)and brings over 30 years of experience in education.
Dr. Corey is the president of Biola University. He previously served as dean of the faculty, vice president for education, and vice president for development at Gordon‐Conwell Theological Seminary.
Our conversation isn’t about education choices you’ve already made for your children. It’s about helping you ask better questions and make wise decisions for your child’s faith, character, and academic growth.
We discussed:
• Challenges in the culture that impact raising children.
• Christian education in a changing educational landscape.
• The decline of reading and math skills in American education.
• The new federal tax credit scholarship for 2027.
• Optimism for the future youth of America.
• The strengths and challenges of different education options:
o Public school
o Private Christian school
o Charter school
o Homeschool
o Hybrid models
• How parents can disciple their children.
Dr. Taylor says, “Christians who don’t understand the times, or are fearful of them, are going to be in serious trouble because they won’t be able to address the world around them. If our children don’t solidify their identity in Christ, when they go into the culture, they’ll fall prey to these secular beliefs.”
