How the Christian Worldview Inspires Uncommon Hope for Believers

We live in a broken world. It’s not a matter of if the culture will influence our children, it’s a matter of when and how. As such, it’s wise to teach them discernment from a young age. Fortunately, parents can find incredible guidance in the Christian worldview.

The question is, because the enemy comes to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10), what does living as a Christian in today’s culture look like and how can we live out those principles for our families and neighborhoods?

Christianity provides a redemptive and hopeful what and why for engaging the culture. A Christian worldview doesn’t directly resolve every question that arises about social issues, but it does provide a framework for discerning God’s wisdom.

Sociologist Christian Smith from Notre Dame says the most current research demonstrates that “the single most powerful causal influence on the religious lives of American teenagers and young adults is the religious lives of their parents.” The home is, and always has been, the most important source of Christian worldview education children can have.

To help you be a Kingdom-building influence in your family and community, I’ve invited author, speaker, and president of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, John Stonestreet to be my guest on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.

John is a deep thinker and a student of the culture. We discussed:

  • How Christians can influence culture in ways that renew and revive it rather than contribute to its decline.
  • How to parent the Christian worldview.
  • John’s “Creation, Fall, Redemption and Restoration” framework that will empower you to understand/communicate the Christian worldview.
  • How to live out the Christian worldview in your specific “place and purpose.”
  • How to become a “catalyst for your community.”

To hear my full conversation with John Stonestreet listen on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

Before I close, I’d like to remind you that on September 5, we’re releasing Truth Rising, our powerful documentary film in collaboration with the Colson Center. To sign up for free access to the global premiere, click here. Or call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
