The passing of the renowned theologian Dr. R.C Sproul draws to an earthly close an extraordinary and well-lived life. He was 78.
As founder of Ligonier Ministries, the beloved pastor was a popular guest on the Focus on the Family radio broadcast in addition to appearing in The Truth Project, a Focus video series.
In Christendom, “R.C.”, as he was called, was a venerable giant, a discerning voice of wise biblical interpretation and counsel. When Dr. Sproul weighed in on the Scriptures, believers all around the world listened.
“When we close our eyes in death, we do not cease to be alive, rather, we experience a continuation of personal consciousness,” R.C. wrote six years ago. “No person is more conscious, more aware, and more alert than when he passes through the veil from this world into the next. Far from falling asleep, we are awakened to glory in all of its significance. For the believer, death does not have the last word. Death has surrendered to the conquering power of the One who was resurrected as the firstborn of many brethren.”
I believe R.C.’s faith has given way to sight, for he has now met face to face his Creator and Savior. We mourn his death but thank the Lord for his life.
