What if you loved your spouse every day like it was your first day together?
Becky’s dad told her that was his secret to a happy marriage. “Every morning,” he said, “I wake up with your mother, and I treat her like it’s our very first day together.”
That advice inspired Becky … until she thought of what her behavior ought to look like if she loved her husband like that. Then her heart sink a little. Instead of day one, her marriage felt like day 5,603. She had a good marriage, but not a great one.
Part of the trouble, she realized, was that she had been busy with work and three kids. Children require a lot from a mom and dad, after all. They need a lot of attention, affection, and affirmation. They need parents who are engaged in their lives.
But if everything – including your marriage – revolves around your children, your home is out of balance. The desire to be a great parent becomes counterproductive when it overshadows your desire to be a great spouse. A strong marriage is one of the greatest gifts you can offer your children. It’s the foundation of their stability and confidence in life and will benefit them throughout their lives.
We’ve heard from many women who struggle to find that balance. Well-known blogger, author, and speaker Becky Thompson is with us to talk about some of the challenges women face in that common tug of war between being a great mom and being a great wife.
She says falling in love is easy. Walking in love is harder because it requires intentionality. She’ll offer women a blueprint for that, a practical strategy that can help you make a good marriage great, or walk you back into love with your spouse if the relationship has drifted.
If you feel the strain of that balance between wife and mom, this program is going to equip you with answers and touch your soul. Becky will help you find hope and healing through God’s love. She’s captured some of her wisdom and perspectives in a book called Love Unending: Rediscovering Your Marriage in the Midst of Motherhood. We also have an online store that offers helpful digital and print resources in the areas of marriage, parenting, faith, and issues related to many other life challenges.
