One of the most powerful forces God created for humanity exists in the realm of love, sex, and romance. The potential for both pleasure and blessing is virtually immeasurable. So is the potential for destruction.
As a group, Millennials and younger generations don’t tend to believe that. A significant percentage see sex as a purely physical experience. That shouldn’t surprise anyone. From an evolutionary standpoint, there isn’t anything sacred about sex. If there is no God, then sex is strictly biological. It’s an appetite, nothing more. As such, your sexual choices have no real significance as long as you’re respecting other people’s boundaries and are protecting against things like pregnancy and STDs.
The Bible teaches that sex is something more. Much more. It’s God-given, sacred, and communicates something powerful about who He is. Sex is meant to be enjoyed, and it will be if your choices are governed by God’s original design. Remove sex from that design, and the consequences can be dire.
That’s why Christians cannot afford to hand this area of our culture and our humanity over to the enemy. We have to fight for the sacredness of sexuality. We do that here at Focus on the Family through intelligent and biblically-based conversation.
