What should be the main focus of parenting?
Scripture provides a clear job description for parents in Deuteronomy 6:7, which says “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Teaching your children God’s Word can happen in a structured setting like family devotions, but Scripture encourages parents to weave conversation about God into everyday life.
If this sounds daunting, don’t worry! Ruth Chou Simons, our guest on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “The Biblical Truths Your Kids Need to Know,” will offer encouragement and help for teaching your kids important biblical truths.
Ruth is an artist, entrepreneur, and speaker. In 2013, she founded GraceLaced Co., an online community and shop offering inspirational art. She’s also the mother of six boys and the author of Foundations: 12 Biblical Truths to Shape a Family.
In my conversation with her, she shares:
- How to model foundational biblical truths for your kids.
- How to overcome roadblocks to teaching your kids.
- Practical tips and encouragement for family worship.
