Looking in from the outside, this young pastor was living a God-honoring life. He shepherded the church’s youth, taught Sunday school, and led a church neighborhood outreach.
But his young wife knew better. She knew her husband had a mistress.
Addicted to Busy
On today’s broadcast, we’re talking with Pastor Brady Boyd, who heads Colorado Springs’ New Life Church. Pastor Brady shares with us how his overly busy schedule almost destroyed his marriage.
Brady’s wife, Pam, had had enough. She packed her bags and informed Brady that if he didn’t slow down, she was going home to her parents. She felt like a single woman because her husband was never there for her.
What a wakeup call.
Looking back, Pastor Brady admits that his schedule – which was filled with good things – had become “a very seductive mistress.”
It’s Going to Hurt
Let’s be honest for a minute. A lot of us like being busy. It makes us feel needed. It makes us come across as important. A hectic life is glorified in our culture; busyness is worn like a badge.
And yet… where in that full schedule is time for our spouse?
Our children?
Our God?
Today’s broadcast is one that might hurt a little because, for many of you, it will hit close to home.
But that hurt will be worthwhile because, by the grace of God, it will produce a good work in your heart.
Please tune in to today’s broadcast, “Breaking the Busyness Habit.” You’ll hear from a pastor who’s been there, and who’s personally seen how the thief “steals, kills and destroys” through the quiet lure of good things. Pastor Brady will share how being too busy negatively impacts your spiritual life. He’ll also share how God used a life-or-death situation to give him the gift of rest.
