As we’ve been sharing with you for the past week, our friend Steven Curtis Chapman has released a powerful new song – “Glorious Unfolding”!
If you haven’t heard it yet (or seen the accompanying video), I’d encourage you to take a moment right now to enjoy it. I believe you’ll be moved as you pause and consider the larger story God is telling through your life.
Steven based his lyrics on Jeremiah 29:11: “‘I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to give you hope and a future.’”
At times, God’s story will lift us to glorious mountaintops. Other chapters will find us walking through valleys that are deep and dark. But we can have faith that God is working in and through it all to finish His good work in us.
If you’re familiar with Steven Curtis Chapman’s story, you’ll understand why that is such a personal theme for him to convey through his music. Here’s what he had to say about his inspiration for the song:
The idea of God’s unfolding story was the overarching theme as I started thinking about this season of life. I thought, “How can I share that message in an encouraging way with others that listen to my music and know my story?”
God seemed to be saying, “Will you trust me to write my story with your life even if it means there are hard chapters? Will you trust me with those hard chapters and will you trust that at the end of this story you’re going to be amazed?”
