Sometimes life’s pain can be so deep we lose ourselves in a fog of uncertainty and confusion. We struggle to see things that were once crystal clear – things like who God is and who we are in Him.
That was Laurie Sacher’s story. Broken dreams had stripped her of hope, leaving behind heartache and nagging questions about God’s character and His love for her.
But then a dog wandered into her life … literally. It was scraggly, blind, and homeless. A pitiful little thing, really. But as Laurie cared for that helpless, stray animal she named Mia, something unexpected happened in Laurie’s life. The fog slowly began to lift, and she learned to see herself and God again in a whole new, life-transforming way.
The sad look in Mia’s eyes seemed to ask the question, “Am I worth it? Can you give me a chance? Am I too far gone to be loved or valued?” Laurie realized those were the same questions she had been asking of God herself: “Am I worth it? Am I too far gone to be loved and chosen?” Laurie thought she had simply rescued a dog. Instead, God used that encounter to show Laurie how much He loved and valued her and that He wanted to rescue her.
I hope you’ll join us for Laurie’s full story on today’s program, “Unconditional Love: Lessons Learned from My Canine Friend,” on your local radio station, online or via our free, downloadable mobile phone app. I believe our conversation will serve as a touching reminder that God can use anyone or anything to speak to our hearts … even a scraggly little stray dog.
