Answering Your Kids’ Tough Faith Questions

Would you know how to answer these questions if a co-worker or a neighbor asked them?

  • Do all religions point to the same truth?
  • If Christianity is the only true religion, why are there so many denominations?
  • Why did Jesus die for our sins?

Would you know how to answer your children if they asked those questions? Answering in ways children can understand isn’t always easy.

You may feel like author Natasha Crain when she gave her four-year-old son his first swimming lesson. She told him to hold his breath, but when she swished him through the water, he came up choking and crying.

She encouraged him to hold his breath again, but he came up gurgling a second time, too. The third time Natasha encouraged her son to hold his breath, he looked at her and asked, “Mommy, what does breath mean?”

Christianity. Faith. Salvation. When we talk about God and the Bible, it’s easy to forget that ideas and concepts that are second nature to us aren’t so basic to others, especially children.

Today’s Focus on the Family Broadcast is a nuts-and-bolts program that offers parents practical, tangible takeaways for answering your kids’ tough questions about Christianity. In fact, we’ve called it “Answering Your Kids’ Tough Faith Questions.”

Author Natasha Crain is our guest. She outlines and answers four questions kids most often ask about God and the Bible. She’ll help parents who want to help their children better understand the Christian faith.

Listen on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

Natasha has written a book called Keeping Your Kids on God’s Side: 40 Conversations to Help Them Build a Lasting Faith, which includes 10 tips for having deeper faith conversations with your kids. It’s available for a gift of any amount. Give us a call at 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459) or visit our website for details.
