Bringing Purpose and Power to Your Prayer Life

Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer.

If you’re not familiar with it, this annual observance is held on the first Thursday of May and invites people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

In honor of today, I hope you’ll tune in for a special edition of our Focus on the Family Broadcast we’re calling “Bringing Purpose and Power to Your Prayer Life.”

Our guest is Kathi Lipp, who will help listeners learn how to pray diligently for themselves and others. She offers five reasons to pray:

  • (Romans 12:12) – “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
  • (Proverbs 8:17) – “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.”
  • (2 Peter 1:3) – “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence…”
  • (John 10:10b) – “…I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
  • (John 16:24) – “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Listen to our full conversation on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app.

I hope you’ll take some time today to pray on your own for your family, for your community, for marriages and parents, for the sanctity of life, for children in foster care, and “for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Tim. 2:2).

Kathi Lipp’s book Praying God’s Word for Your Life is available for a gift of any amount. For more information, visit our website.
