Since Christmas will probably look different for your family this year, why not start some new traditions?
We’re talking about ideas for approaching the holiday season with grace, fun, and a deeper focus on God and your family on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Embracing Grace, Fun, and Family This Holiday Season.” Listen on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app.
As much as Becky Kiser loves Thanksgiving and Christmas, she admits that they make her moody and irritable. When she hosts, the holidays aren’t usually as fun for her as they are for everyone else. She puts a lot of pressure on herself to make the people she welcomes into her home comfortable.
Becky has also had to learn how to cope with feelings of loneliness, depression, and grief during the holidays.
What gets lost along the way is what the holidays are all about: family, memories, and thankfulness to God for His grace, provision, and redemption.
New traditions are born out of older ones. Since Christmas will probably look different for most of us, this year might be a good opportunity to get your family back to the heart of the holiday.
Becky is sharing great ideas on our program, like having your children make wish lists for what they want to give to someone instead of what they want to receive. Or helping your children plan a birthday party for Jesus.
We’re talking with Becky about her book Sacred Holidays: Less Chaos, More Jesus, which is available from Focus for a gift of any amount. It covers all the major holidays, not just Christmas and Thanksgiving, offering insights, tips, and tools to make your holidays less chaotic and more about loving Jesus and others.
