Life as a single adult can be daunting, especially when it comes to maintaining a high moral standard in a romantic relationship.
How can Christian women honor God in their dating?
Cheryl Martin asked herself that question many times over the years about her own singleness. She decided, “Until I’m married, I don’t want to endure my singleness. I want to enjoy it. And since I’m God’s child, I don’t want to be an average single. I want to be first class.”
Cheryl encourages women to consider five principles for living a “first class” single life:
- Pursue a relationship with God before you pursue a relationship with a man.
- View singleness as an opportunity to discover who God has designed you to be as an individual.
- Honor God in your dating by setting healthy boundaries.
- Don’t be paralyzed by your past. Embrace the truth that God can make all things new.
- Trust God to give you His best in His time.
The glue that holds those five principles together is relationship, walking this journey with other women who support each other, sister to sister, in their quest to live as first-class singles.
On our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Encouragement for the Single Life,” we’re airing a talk Cheryl Martin gave at a women’s conference where she fully explained those five principles. I believe her message will encourage you to make this season of singleness rewarding and transformative.
