Focus on the Family is pleased to support the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as an Associate Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court. As a former law clerk to the retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, with a long resume of public service as well as private legal experience, Judge Kavanaugh is a top-drawer candidate to replace his former boss on the nation’s highest court.
A graduate of Yale and Yale Law School, Judge Kavanaugh has served in the Solicitor General’s Office, as well as in the George W. Bush White House in several high-level positions. Appointed by President Bush to serve as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 2006, his judicial record over his 12 years on that appellate court, which is just below the Supreme Court in importance, is lengthy and impressive.
Most notably for these times marked by political and cultural divisions, Judge Kavanaugh has the reputation of being fair-minded and able to work with his fellow judges who might have a different point of view. His temperament is well-suited for the demands of our nation’s highest court.
We congratulate President Trump on this excellent nomination and urge the Senate to quickly confirm Judge Kavanaugh as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.
