Heaven: Our Ultimate Hope and Home

Anne Graham Lotz is the daughter of the late Reverend Billy Graham. You can hear echoes of him in her voice – both in her southern accent … and in the way she talks about heaven.

She says:

“I wonder if you’ve ever really had a home. Were you raised in an orphanage? Were you in a situation where your family moved from place to place to place? If you’ve never really had a place that was your own, there is a heavenly home that has your name written on it. When you place your faith in Jesus, you don’t ever have to worry about wandering again. Heaven is a place you can call your own.”

I can tell you, as an orphan, I would have loved to have had the hope of Heaven as my real home. That might have made it easier to pass through the 23 different families and homes that I lived in on my way to adulthood.

I’m still grateful that my high school coach, Paul Moro, invited me to a Christian camp when I was 15. That’s where I understood the gospel for the first time and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. From that point until today, Heaven has been my ultimate hope and home.

That hope is available to all of us.  This is especially important if you are experiencing a lot of difficulty in your life. Whether it’s the burden of chronic illness, the emotional pain of a prodigal child, or some other source of suffering, as a Christian our pain is temporary compared to an eternity in Heaven with Jesus.

What is Heaven like?

I hope you’ll tune in for a special message from Anne, recorded at a Renewing the Heart Conference sponsored by Focus on the Family a few years ago. Speaking from Revelation 21, Anne describes heaven as:

  • A prepared place
  • A perfect place
  • A physical place

I know you’re going to be riveted by her message. Anne’s words are an encouragement to all of us who are looking forward to our Heavenly home.

If you’re not a Christian yet, or you have questions about becoming one, please give us a call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459). We have a free e-booklet called “Coming Home: An Invitation to Join God’s Family.” It will lay out the steps you need to take to become a believer in Jesus Christ and a resident of Heaven.

Tune in for “Choose You This Day” on your local radio station, online, or on our free phone app.
