Normalizing Pedophilia

Culture has always been rife with evil. It was the apostle Paul who declared, nearly 2,000 years ago, in fact, that “the days are evil” (Eph. 5:16). Yet, he also spoke with hope, urging Christians to “not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).

My faith tells me this is true, that light will always overcome the dark. Still, despite such divine assurance, the presence of evil in society is a very heavy and heartbreaking reality. You know it when you see it, and even though you trust in the Lord to ultimately right every wrong, it still can leave you with a pit in your stomach.

Case in point:

A recent nationally promoted pro-pedophilia conference in Baltimore.

I think you need to know about it. The gathering was comprised of clinicians, researchers and academics.

And pedophiles.

Yes, pedophiles.

Sponsored by a group called “B4U-ACT,” the purpose of the symposium was “to discuss key issues regarding the entry for pedophilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association.”

In other words, there is a movement afoot to normalize pedophilia and declassify it as a psychiatric disorder. Organizers of the event would prefer that the public not use the term “pedophile,” and instead refer to those who sexually abuse children as “minor-attracted persons.”

Keep in mind that those advocating for this sickening approach are not uneducated but instead hail from such prestigious institutions as Johns Hopkins University.Romans1221.jpg

That we’re forced to address this horror, of people openly advocating for the exploitation of innocent children, is beyond the pale. Unfortunately, what we see happening, of trying to downplay deviance, is a common ploy of evildoers – people attempting to numb our senses and sensibilities by calling evil “good” and good “evil.”

Thankfully, the vast majority of Americans see this “movement” for what it is, debauchery of the most vile order. Christians should nevertheless remain vigilant and aware of what’s happening, even on the fringe of society, if for no other reason that it’s occurring in plain sight. There is nothing this side of eternity more precious and valuable than the innocence of a child. And here at Focus on the Family we have enthusiastically committed ourselves to doing whatever we can to help preserve and protect the dignity of all people, but most especially those least able to protect themselves.
