Overcoming the Obstacles of Infidelity

The problem with living at a fast pace is that you never see the cracks in your life starting to form.

Bob and Audrey Meisner discovered that was true after they met and married in Bible college. They were passionate about their faith and wanted to change the world together.

Within a few years, they had three kids, were active in a national ministry, and pastored a thriving church. They attended marriage conferences, read books together, and were well-known in their community.

Not only was busyness not considered a problem for Bob and Audrey, it was the goal. They saw every moment as an opportunity to reach somebody in need. They were driven to do more, to be better, and to be on top of things. Always.

“After all,” Bob says, looking back, “if you’re going to change the world, you’ve got to be busy.”

But too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Bob and Audrey went so hard for so long, they never saw the cracks starting to form between them. Or they ignored them. Neither recognized the danger their marriage faced because both were too caught up in the whirlwind of busyness they’d created for themselves. And slowly, they lost touch with their children, with their marriage, and with their own hearts.

Eventually, the whole structure of their marriage collapsed upon itself. Audrey had an affair and soon discovered she was pregnant. Bob and Audrey’s marriage, their ministry, and their family appeared lost.

But that all began to change when they got help and learned new ways to connect with each other. Now they provide encouragement and healing for thousands of other couples who are desperately searching for a reason to believe that they, too, can find a way through their heart-wrenching complications.

That’s why I am grateful to have Bob and Audrey Meisner with us in the studio. Their story is one of hope, hard work, and victory. You’ll hear about their journey through infidelity and the miraculous work that God did to bring them back together on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Overcoming the Obstacles of Infidelity.”

If you’re looking for hope, Bob and Audrey have answers. They urge couples not to throw in the towel too soon. Your marriage is bigger than you. Your choices affect yourself, your spouse, your children – even your grandchildren. The path isn’t easy, but there is hope for redemption.

Tune in to our conversation with Bob and Audrey Meisner on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app. You’ll laugh. You’ll be moved to tears. And if you’re in a difficult place, I pray that you’ll find new hope for your marriage.

Drs. Bob and Audrey Meisner are the founders of Love Married Life, a ministry that helps married couples who are struggling or who want to experience a better, more fulfilling marriage. They’ve written a book called Marriage Undercover: Thriving in a Culture of Quiet Desperation. I’d like to offer you a copy of it for a gift of any amount. When you help Focus on the Family today, your donation will be doubled for twice the impact in helping others through this ministry. Our thanks to generous donors who’ve made that possible.
