Author and speaker Patsy Clairmont is well known for her wit and sense of humor. But she also has an amazing testimony of overcoming a chronic anxiety disorder and panic attacks.
Anxiety is about the scary “what ifs?” in life. Patsy imagined horrible scenarios about everything that could happen and rehearsed them over and over again in her mind. Her anxiety was so acute that she felt emotionally paralyzed and hid away at home.
Patsy says:
“Fear has friends – anger, guilt, shame. And when I gave in to a fear, he invited them over. Broken emotions leave us in a very vulnerable place, but God puts together the broken pieces of our lives like shards of glass in a kaleidoscope. And when he holds it up and spins the wheel, suddenly light touches it, and beautiful patterns appear. And what looked like it could have no value, now becomes the most priceless thing that you can offer another person. That is the work that Christ does in you.”
Only God can take a woman from being housebound, literally bedridden, and turn her into someone who can travel and speak to thousands of women in large arenas. The path toward freedom begins with the faith to take a step forward.
