Today’s Supreme Court decision on women’s sports is a win for reality.
It is also a victory for the generations who labored for decades to ensure that our daughters would have the right to compete fairly in athletic events. Radical activists have threatened not only that right but the physical safety of girls and women as well.
While the ruling acknowledges that states and schools may provide separate women’s and men’s sports teams based on biological sex, it does not invalidate existing laws or prohibit legislatures in blue states from enacting new policies that are detached from biological reality. As a result, girls in some states may now enjoy greater protections, while those in others will face challenges to fair competition.
The decision could further encourage families to relocate to states that prioritize protections for girls’ sports. I have sons, but as a father, I would do everything possible to protect my daughters.
Today’s ruling, coupled with President Trump’s executive orders aimed at protecting girls’ sports, will likely encourage additional legal challenges to state laws and policies that jeopardize fairness and safety for female athletes.
The High Court’s decision moves us closer to fairness for all in girls’ sports – but we’re not there yet. Every girl everywhere deserves the same protections as those girls living in states that are wise and responsible enough to protect their safety and welfare.”
