Developing a Love of Prayer in Your Kids

Kids praying

In our Welcome Center here at the Focus on the Family campus, children have the opportunity to leave their prayer requests with us.

One of my favorites is from a 9-year-old boy who wrote, “Please pray for my brother. He wets the bed. And pray for me. I share the bed with my brother.”

Some prayer requests are much more serious, like the 8-year-old boy who wanted us to ask God to help his dad stop drinking and be healthy again.

Prayers and Stories of Hope for America

Prayer

Today is
the National Day of Prayer.

If you’re not familiar
with it, this annual observance is held on the first Thursday of May and invites
people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint
resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry
S. Truman.

In honor
of today, I hope you’ll tune in for a special edition of our Focus on the Family Broadcast we’re calling “Prayers and Stories of Hope for America.”

We’re airing
your stories of hope, your tales of God’s faithfulness during this time of
crisis, and your prayers for our nation in the days ahead.

Trump and Pelosi, Time to Turn the Other Cheek

Note: This article by Focus on the Family President Jim Daly originally appeared on CNN.

Inside the Washington, DC Hilton’s International Ballroom on Thursday, it was a scene straight from a script of a highly dramatic film.

Fresh off his acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial and seated at the head table before an overflow crowd for the 68th annual National Prayer Breakfast was President Donald J. Trump. Seated several seats over was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi — the very woman who led the House of Representative’s impeachment proceedings against him.

Praying and Stepping Out in Faith

Have you ever felt discouraged because God doesn’t seem to be answering your prayers?

Pastor Mark Batterson has. He was diagnosed with asthma at age 3 and suffered life-threatening attacks for years. At age thirteen, he was rushed to the hospital and spent days in intensive care. Both he and his parents feared that he might soon take his last breath.

For 40 years, Mark never went anywhere without his inhaler and used it almost every day.

Pray this Prayer Before Making Your New Year’s Resolutions

The final week of the year can often be a time of reflection as we look back across the last twelve months and ponder what the Lord may have planned for us in the New Year.

With just 6 days left in 2018, at a time when the stock market is riding like a roller coaster and nerves are frayed on a variety of levels, I want to share a touching prayer with you and one that can help frame your goals and plans for 2019.
