Do you ever feel small and insignificant – like the lowly plankton, tiny organisms that drift aimlessly in the ocean with no obvious sense of purpose?
If so, Sadie Robertson of the Duck Dynasty family has an encouraging word for you. She wants you to know that even plankton is significant to God. Did you know that plankton is crucial to the world’s ecosystem? Not only are they important to the ocean’s food chain, they also produce 50 percent of the world’s oxygen.
She wants you to know that if God can infuse lowly plankton with such a crucial role in His world, think of what He can do with you as a child of God who’s willing to live according to His word. God has a purpose for each of us, and when we allow Him to shine though us, Christ’s love will illuminate the world even in the darkest storm.
That’s one of the themes of our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Being God’s Light in the World.” We’re airing a recording of a talk that Sadie Robertson gave at a young adult event in Atlanta, Georgia.
She challenges us as followers of Christ – young and old alike – never to grow complacent about what we believe. It’s easy to embrace the values and ideals of today’s culture without even realizing it. We can settle into our comfort zones and live as if this world is all there is.
But we’re called to something radically different – to live godly lives and to push past our fears to share God’s truth with a dying world. To do so, we must be willing to go places that are uncomfortable and to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the Gospel so that others will meet Jesus.
Join us for “Being God’s Light in the World.” Listen on your local radio station, online, on iTunes, via Podcast, or on our free phone app.
We’re excited that Sadie is serving as Honorary Chairperson for this year’s Bring Your Bible to School Day, which is happening Thursday, October 4, 2018. Bring Your Bible to School Day gives young people an opportunity to celebrate religious freedom and to share God’s love with their peers. Find out more at BringYourBible.org.
I’m encouraged by the tremendous faith of our young people. I’ve had many opportunities to interact with this next generation of Christians, and they give me great courage and hope for the future. These are tomorrow’s leaders – and we who are older and more experienced followers of Christ need to encourage them to speak up and to stand firm in their faith.
I think about my sons, who are right on the verge of launching out on their own. I’m excited about their potential and about the opportunities they’ll have to be witnesses for Jesus wherever they go.
It’s our prayer that this radio broadcast will be helpful to you, to your teens and young adults who will carry the torch of God’s truth and love to this world long after we’re gone. To come alongside you in that endeavor, we’d like to send you a copy of Sadie’s book for a gift today of any amount. (Check our website for details.) It’s titled, Live Fearless: A Call to Power, Passion and Purpose. That and other helpful teen resources are available in our online bookstore.
