Note: In light of Yogi Berra’s passing last night at the age of 90, I wanted to dust off a piece I wrote about him three years ago. Many will remember Mr. Berra’s Hall of Fame playing career and funny way with words. He was a character, that’s for sure! But I’m most impressed with the love and devotion he exhibited to his wife of 65 years, Carmen, who passed away in 2012. May the Lord bring comfort and peace to the Berra’s three sons and extended family.
Call Your Senator and Help Reduce U.S. Abortions
The latest undercover video taking viewers behind the scenes at Planned Parenthood was released this week. As with the previous videos, this one is a glimpse into a world most Americans would rather ignore; a place where abortions are sold, preborn babies are killed and their body parts are harvested for research, allegedly for profit.
If your heart is broken by these videos and you want to do something to help stop abortion, here’s an opportunity to act:
There’s a major pro-life vote scheduled to take place in the U.S.
Good News on the Marriage Front
New research suggests the millennial generation is finally ready to settle down, get married and start a family – in that order.
That’s good news after years of disheartening trends. Ever since the sexual revolution, most of what we’ve heard about marriage has been bleak. Marriage scholar Brad Wilcox explains: “Since the 1960s, the rate of new marriages has fallen by more than 50 percent, and rates of divorce and single parenthood has more than doubled.”
Until recently, things haven’t shown signs of improving.
These Thoughts Still Hold True
Today, on the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, I want to share some thoughts I wrote during at the 10-year mark. So much of what I said then is, sadly, still applicable now at a time when our nation and its people remain divided among many lines. As we remember those we lost on 9/11, I hope we also remember the unity and brotherhood of that day. -JD

Kim Davis Is Free. What Does It Mean for You and Me?
As you know by now, Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis was released from the Carter County Detention Center on Tuesday following a six-day imprisonment. Citing a religious objection, the recent Christian convert had declined to issue same-sex marriage licenses – despite a federal judge ordering her to do so.
Her freedom, of course, is very good news. But the bigger concerns surrounding this case are far from resolved, and it serves as a warning to the 244 million people (according to Gallup) in the United States who believe the Bible is God’s Word for humanity.
Why Does Mrs. Clinton Think Pro-lifers Are Terrorists?
Hillary Clinton’s recent remarks comparing the pro-life views of some Republican presidential candidates to “terrorist groups” has understandably caused outrage among those of us who value preborn life.
Here’s her quote:
“Now, extreme views about women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups, we expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world, but it’s a little hard to take from Republicans who want to be President of the United States, yet espouse out of date, out of touch policies.
Five Ways You Can Help the Persecuted Church
“Conscience is the most sacred of all property.” – James Madison
Have you heard about “Deflategate”? That’s the ongoing story involving NFL quarterback Tom Brady and whether he ordered air to be let out of footballs last season. Not long ago, it was the lead story on the evening news almost every night, and it’s still regularly covered in the news cycle.
The fact that the number of pounds of air per square inch in a football is so newsworthy is shameful in my opinion based on what the national media hasn’t considered worthy of airtime.
How Does Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Impact Students’ Rights in Schools?
In a recent blog post, Focus on the Family Education Analyst Candi Cushman discussed how the Supreme Court’s sweeping redefinition of marriage will impact parental rights in our schools. In today’s blog post, she addresses some commonly asked questions we receive pertaining to its effect on students’ religious freedoms. –JD

Q: Do you think Obergefell v. Hodges endangers students’ rights to express a biblical point of view at school?
The short answer is yes.
Why Ashley Madison Subscribers Are Chasing a Lie
Owners of Ashley Madison, the infamous adultery-facilitating website, bill themselves as being a source of “online personals & [a] dating destination for casual encounters.”
They’re also a site and source of misery and lies. And now, thanks to hackers, millions of their users have had their private sins made public.
During my career as a minister and clinical psychologist, I’ve worked with hundreds of couples grappling with the excruciating pain and heartbreak of infidelity. The reality is there’s nothing new about sexual sin.
