Our country is at a crossroads. Society is rapidly changing – and not always for the better. Some people call it “woke” or “cancel” culture, where only certain points of view are allowed to be expressed.
Many Americans feel like these disturbing seismic changes happened overnight. The truth is our culture has been chipping away at the Judeo-Christian value system for decades. Increasingly, the Christian viewpoint is unwelcome in public settings. And that problem will only become more challenging for families and for the church.
How do we live courageously in a culture that wants to silence us?
There are other questions as well. Like, what is the role of the church in the midst of a collapsing culture? How do we speak into a culture where the person who shouts the loudest wins the argument? And are we in America willing to suffer in the name of Christ like our brothers and sisters around the world?
In days like these, the Word of God is paramount. I am encouraged by passages like Romans 5:1-5: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
On the Focus on the Family Broadcast “Engaging the Culture with Truth and Love,” our guest Dr. Erwin Lutzer is with us to encourage your faith by helping you better understand how to engage a lost culture with love and truth.
Dr. Lutzer is dissecting cultural Marxism, socialism, Critical Race Theory, communism, social justice, religious freedom, and how and where to draw the line and stand for Christ. Listen on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.
Dr. Lutzer is Pastor Emeritus of The Moody Church in Chicago, where he served as Senior Pastor for 36 years. His book We Will Not Be Silenced: Responding Courageously to Our Culture’s Assault on Christianity clearly warns us about what is happening in America today. It also explains how Christians can prepare and respond in love. The book is available for a gift of any amount. Visit our website or give us a call at 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
