Fire can cook you a nice steak, or it can burn your house to the ground. The difference lies in how well you harness its power.
It’s the same with a strong will. There is a lot of good that comes from having what LeRoy and Kimberly Wagner describe as a “fierce” personality. But a strong will gone wild can wreak havoc in a person’s life.
Fierce doesn’t have to mean obnoxious, loud, or rude. A fierce woman can be strong and beautiful. She can be confident and successful in her own right, yet encourage her husband to become all that God created Him to be. If she’s not in control of her strength, however, she can emasculate her husband and hold him back.
Kimberly did that to LeRoy for years, and she didn’t even realize it. Neither did LeRoy. In her mind, she had certain ideas about how things should be done, and she was merely asserting herself. In his mind, passivity was “sanctified” as peace-making. LeRoy describes it as “a victim mentality with the veneer of nobility.” He didn’t believe Christians should fight or escalate disagreements.
They felt trapped in a loveless marriage. Their relationship was failing … until God turned it around. Over the course of several years, the Lord led them through a healing journey that completely transformed their marriage.
Today and tomorrow, LeRoy and Kimberly Wagner are in our studios to share their story and to offer fresh insight and hope to couples who may be struggling. If a woman will submit her strong will to God, and a man his passivity, He can transform their marriage and their kids’ lives.
I’ve repeated it often: our Christian marriages are on display. Divorce rates for the Christian church are too high. Focus’ goal is to reduce the number of divorces in the church and to empower couples to have a marriage that thrives.
I think our broadcasts over the next couple of days can do just that for you. The Wagners are joining us for “Loving and Leading Your Strong Woman” on your local radio station, online, or on our free phone app. LeRoy and Kimberly’s book, Men Who Love Fierce Women: The Power of Servant Leadership in Your Marriage, in our online bookstore.
