Living Joyously

Healing

David Ring often says, “I have cerebral palsy. What’s your problem?” In other words, we all face problems of one kind or another. We can choose to be defeated by adversity, or we can live victoriously in Christ.

David developed cerebral palsy after not receiving enough oxygen at birth. Throughout his life, he endured excruciating pain, physical struggles, and constant public humiliation. Orphaned at age 14 when both of his parents died of cancer, David was cast about from family to family with nowhere to call home. David wanted to die, too, feeling that life was hopeless, that nobody loved him, and that God was mean to him.

When David was 16, he reluctantly attended a church service where he met God for the first time and experienced the love of Christ.

His life has become an example of Matthew 19:26: “With God all things are possible.” For almost 50 years, David has defied all the odds and passionately shared the gospel of Christ with audiences all over the world! His incredible testimony of strength, courage, and faith leaves listeners of all ages inspired and hungry to fulfill Gods calling on their lives.

On our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Living Joyously,” we’re airing a message from David Ring recorded at Moody Bible Institute’s Founder’s Week a number of years ago. He encourages listeners to overcome any challenge they have in life and to have compassion on those that deal with mental or physical disabilities.

This is one of the most popular broadcasts of all time here on Focus on the Family, and every time I hear this message, I’m inspired once again to make the most of what God has given me, and also to love and accept those around me. David is a great example of the fact that that every life is precious because we’re all made in the image of God. I think you’ll be amazed when you hear how the Lord has worked in David’s life.
