On our Focus on the Family Broadcast “My Passion for the Harvest,” we’re airing a recorded message by Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California and founder of Harvest Crusades, which has reached over nine million people since the 90s.
Because of his mother’s promiscuous lifestyle, seven marriages, non-stop partying, and constant relocating from place to place to place, Greg had a tumultuous childhood and was lost in a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol by the time he was in high school. After a chance meeting with a Christian girl, Greg entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and he was able to quit drugs.
I can really relate to Greg’s story in many ways. Like Greg, I didn’t grow up in a Christian home, so I had no idea what a healthy marriage or family should look like. Over the course of my childhood, I lived in 23 different houses and apartments, and by the time I was 17, I was totally on my own.
Greg’s story illustrates what I and many, many others have discovered to be true: God can help you overcome any upbringing. Greg says, “Your future doesn’t have to be dependent on your past. There are no foregone conclusions because when God breaks into your story everything changes.”
If you’re having a hard time overcoming a difficult childhood, hear Greg’s fascinating testimony on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

-Hi. Thanks for your programming. Can you identify any past programs that I could listen to about how the school curriculums taught disprepect for the family unit? Thankyou.
