You’re likely familiar with the controversy surrounding Maddie Runkles, the 18-year-old Maryland senior whose Christian high school is prohibiting her from participating in graduation exercises because of her confessed violation of the institution’s moral code.
Yet, overshadowed by the escalating debate are the bold remarks that Miss Runkles made calling for the taxpayer defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Standing before a mountain of baby socks representing children lost to abortion, the Maryland teen suggested that she’s the “perfect target” for Planned Parenthood.
How would they have received her were she to visit a clinic?
“They wouldn’t support me,” she stated. “They wouldn’t help me. They would tell me to get rid of the baby because it’ll ruin my life.”
Of course, she’s absolutely right – that’s exactly what they tell women like her.
Maddie Runkles went on to say that the nation’s largest abortion provider is built upon a lie – that Planned Parenthood claims to be all about empowering women and lifting up their rights.
“But I can’t think of anything that’s less empowering,” she said, ”than telling a woman she can’t [have her baby].”
Maddie and her boyfriend succumbed to a major lapse in judgement, but the pro-life community can be proud of her intrepid defense of life.
Please join me in praying for the entire Runkles family and her school and that this incident will bear witness to God’s truth as well as His loving and redeeming nature.
