As the saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together.” It means that we naturally feel most comfortable around people who look like us and think like us.
That tendency can cause us to miss out on relationships with people who hold different perspectives than us and on the opportunity to learn from them.
God is more diverse than we often imagine Him to be. He created human beings in His image, so every person is God’s image-bearer. Each person we know gives us a unique opportunity to know God more fully and to better appreciate what it means to be fully human.
Building relationships with people who are different from us can be messy, but it’s in those hard spaces where Jesus reaches people and where you and I learn to experience God in all of his goodness.
Heather Avis is our guest on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Shouting the Worth of Every Person.” The mother to three adopted kids – two with Down Syndrome – Heather has made it her mission to share how the love of Christ broadens our horizons to love and accept those who are marginalized in our society. She’ll encourage you to take a breath, whisper a prayer, laugh a little, and make room for the welcoming heart of God.
Join us on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app.
Heather’s book Scoot Over and Make Room: Creating a Space Where Everyone Belongs is available for a gift of any amount. Visit our website. If you can’t afford it, we’ll find a way to get it to you.

-Please remember that in the sight if God, prolife covers not only the unborn child who has a right to life; but also the coloured child who has a right to justice and Life on the streets of America at hands of viscous cops!
The God of justice fights for both in His own way!
Stay blessed.
