But success didn’t come easy. Tim spent three years building his first prototype, then another five years pursuing his first sale. After nearly a decade with nothing to show for his inspiration and hard work, one store finally agreed to make a small order. That was in 1983. Since then, the Leatherman has become one of the most popular multi-tools money can buy.
