We reached out this past summer to both Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris, the Democrat candidate for vice president, and invited both of them to appear separately on the Focus on the Family radio program.
As a non-partisan 501(C)(3) organization, our ministry cannot and will not endorse or advocate for political candidates – but we can discuss issues.
Vice President Pence accepted our invitation. We’ve yet to receive a reply from Senator Harris.
On today’s Focus on the Family program, you’ll hear from our current vice president. I hope you’ll tune-in by clicking here to hear the entire discussion but let me share a little bit now of what the vice president shared:
On Judge Amy Coney Barrett:
“She is not only brilliant, but has an inspiring personal story, an amazing family. And we know she’s going to make an extraordinary justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.”
“In Judge Amy Coney Barrett, um, the American people have a jurist who will uphold the Constitution of the United States, will not legislate from the bench.”
On what Americans can do to help get her confirmed:
“If they cherish our Constitution, if they admire the principled judicial philosophy and the integrity and character of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, I encourage people to pray for Judge Barrett, for her nomination. I also encourage people to call your Senators and let them know, Republican or Democrat, that you want to see them support this incredible woman as the next justice on the Supreme Court.”
“If they cherish our Constitution, if they admire the principled judicial philosophy and the integrity and character of Judge Amy Coney Barrett … pray for Judge Barrett for her nomination. I also encourage people to call your senators and let them know.”
On the connection between violence and family breakdown:
“We’ve got to be there for families in in our cities and in small towns around America. But when you think about the challenges facing families who have to endure violence and crime in our major cities, there’s two things that we need to do … Number one, we’ve got to stand with the men and women in law enforcement. We need to pray for them. But we also need to provide them with the resources, um, to be able to do their very difficult job.”
On the economic recovery and anticipated approval of a vaccine for COVID-19:
“2021 could be one of the greatest years in the history of our country.”
On a culture of life:
“Life is winning in America because of the care and compassion of volunteers at crisis pregnancy centers like those that I’ve had the privilege to visit recently around the country. Life is winning because of the men and women in government at every level that have been willing to stand for the sanctity of life. And life is winning because we do have the most pro-life President in American history in President Donald Trump.”
Please let us know what you think – and continue to pray for the upcoming election.

-Oh, thank you so much for those wise words and for the direction and encouragement they bring me! We need desperately to hear from godly leadership!
Thank you also for the time of prayer on Inauguration Day. What better way to spend that day praying with you and others. So many of your words – to know truth – were concerns I had written in my journal.
The Lord continue to bless you and your ministry!
