I have a treat for you.
We’ve just received the first publicly released scenes from the upcoming History Channel series, The Bible. The ten-hour program will air on the four Sundays prior to Easter, beginning March 3, 2013, and will culminate on Easter Sunday with a special grand finale.
As we move quickly toward the celebration of Christmas in two weeks, I invite you to imagine what it would have been like to witness firsthand the wonder of that night that changed the course of the world:
I love the passion and enthusiasm that my friends Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have invested in this new series. Rather than a word-for-word documentary, this project combines drama and history in a way that captures the essence and heart of the Gospel and the broader biblical story.
I’d like to share one more clip with you. It’s a compilation of scenes from the series set to a stirring rendition of “Mary Did You Know?” What powerful truths can be conveyed in art when creativity is rooted in the Lord’s message.
I’m convinced that The Bible represents a unique opportunity to convey God’s redemptive message to a broad audience – many of whom may be unfamiliar with the narrative of Scripture. My prayer is that many lives will be impacted not only by the beauty and quality of the production, but by the Truth that lies at the center of the story.
Do you and your family have a favorite Christmas movie that’s considered “must-see” fare each year?
