God has given me the privilege of traveling the world. During my senior year of college, I studied in Tokyo. That experience gave me a glimpse of what I was to experience later during my early tenure at Focus, first as the international field director for Asia, Africa and Australia and later as the vice president of our international division.
All told, my travels have taken me to more than 70 countries. During each visit, I’ve had the honor of meeting with fellow believers. We may not have always shared a common language, cuisine or traditions, but it’s amazing how our shared belief that Jesus Christ is Lord unites us beyond anything that may separate us. I can’t even put into words how faith-affirming that has been to me.
That’s probably why this new arrangement to a familiar song, “How Great is Our God,” is so moving for me. At Passion 2012, the popular worship leader Chris Tomlin rolled out a “world edition” of the popular hit, performing the song with other worship leaders from around the world in different languages that included Hindi, Indonesian, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Zulu, Afrikaans, and Mandarin.
I think the result gives us a glimpse into heaven, and “a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (Rev. 7:9-10)
