Why Super Tuesday Matters to You

supertuesday1.jpgFour presidential candidates will compete for 419 delegates scattered throughout ten separate states today, the greatest concentration of votes in any single day on the primary campaign’s calendar.

Historically, a big win for any one candidate is likely to propel them to their party’s nomination. A string of losses usually leads to a dropout and a one-way ticket home.

In other words, it’s a make or break kind-of-day. On the fate of Super Tuesday (potentially) rests the future of the nation’s next president.

But what if I suggested that today is equally important to you?

What if today was the day that changed the rest of your life? The day that changed all the rest?

What if today was the day you’ve been waiting for, praying for and dreaming about for years?

What if the direction and arc of your life depended on the outcome of today’s events?

What if this was the day you decided to right a wrong, settle a long-running dispute or reconcile with someone you’re currently estranged from?

What if as a husband, wife, mother or a father you decided to recommit yourself to the task at hand – not tomorrow, or someday, but today?

What if the Lord has selected you to play a pivotal role today in the life of a complete stranger?

What if today was your Super Tuesday?

In God’s economy, every single day is a masterpiece, not a mosaic of mundane mediocrity. Yet, within the routine of practical living, it’s all too easy to think that today will simply be an extension of yesterday, minus a change of clothes and weather.

Lamentations323A.jpgBut today is nothing like yesterday.Oh, sure, on the surface it might look more or less the same. But God’s mercies are “new every morning” (Lamentations 3:23) and in Him, the “old has gone and the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

On the fate of these next twelve or so hours hangs the fate of countless people – maybe even you and a person you love. Ask the Lord to guide and direct your steps and encounters today. Look for opportunities to be used by Him and for Him.Instead of looking down, look up and out and beyond yourself.

Today could very well be the “Super Tuesday” that sets in motion the good things the Lord is planning for every remaining day of your life.
