If you’re a parent, then I know you’re busy. Your schedule is full from morning until night. Which raises an important question.
When life has you running, how do you make the most out of your time with your children?
I’ve always taken advantage of the opportunities in front of me. When my boys, Trent and Troy, were younger, I struck up thoughtful conversation every morning as I drove them to school. My relationship with them has been built largely on bike rides, four-wheeling excursions, and camping trips.
How to influence your children in everyday life is the subject of our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Being There for Your Son.” We’re sharing a recorded message from the late Steve Farrar, who died earlier this year at the age of 72.
Steve was an author and the founder and chairman of Men’s Leadership Ministries. He spoke at over 600 men’s conferences across North America. Over the years, Steve’s messages have inspired me to do better with my boys. With equal parts humor and godly instruction, Steve will inspire dads to be the man their family needs and to believe that the greatest gift you can give your children is time with you.
Tune in for a timely message from the late Steve Farrar on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.
Before I close, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us through our monthly “Friends of Focus on the Family” program. When you do, I’ll send you a copy of Steve Farrar’s book Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ. You’ll also receive member-exclusive benefits. To make your pledge, or for more information, visit our website or call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
And while you’re online, why not take our free parenting assessment? It will quickly give you an overview of how your family is doing in several key areas. It also offers suggestions for improving the relationships in your home.
