Religion Should Influence Americans’ Political Activism

As the old maxim goes, the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

And according to a recent Pew poll, the majority of Americans think churches should do exactly that as far as public policy is concerned. Nothing. Most Americans believe churches should not get involved in politics. The Pew Research Center found that 63% of Americans say houses of worship should keep out of political matters. Only 36% said churches should express views on social or political questions.

My Thoughts on Chick-fil-A’s Decision and the Leftist Mob that Pushed Them

News of Chick-fil-A’s decision to reprioritize their charitable giving and part ways with faith-based organizations like the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has understandably disappointed its legions of Christian supporters, including me.

Established in 1946 by S. Truett Cathy, the then fledgling chicken franchise grew rapidly throughout the United States, its business guided by their self-described mission “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.”

I’ve long loved Chick-fil-A, not just for its food but also because of the strong Christian principles the company has adhered to – even against the changing tides of culture whose forces have continuously harassed and bullied the restaurant chain over the course of the last two decades.

Understanding Our Mission in the Culture

In 2009, the late Chuck Colson led the charge among Orthodox, Catholic, and Evangelical Christian leaders to draw up a declaration that addressed three key issues crucial to the health and well-being of the culture: life, marriage, and religious freedom. Within months, over a half a million people signed the Manhattan Declaration.

Ten years later, we at Focus on the Family remain firm in our support of the tenets detailed in the Manhattan Declaration. In fact, to reaffirm them, we’ve invited John Stonestreet, the president of the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, to our studios for a timely conversation about how Christians can keep their bearings in a culture that’s ever-changing.

Thank you, President Trump & Vice President Pence for Your Ongoing Support of Adoption & Foster Care

As the broadcast team and I continue to make our way across the country this week (we’re in Tampa tonight!) as part of the Focus on the Family Live! tour, I followed with interest the National Adoption Month celebration taking place yesterday in Washington, D.C.

My colleague and friend Dr. Sharen Ford was in the audience for Vice President Pence’s eloquent and moving address in which he extolled the gift of adoption while highlighting the critical needs of too many children currently in our state’s foster care systems.

BIG NEWS! Focus on the Family Announces Nationwide Pro-Life Celebration: Alive 2020

I’ve been hinting at this for the last few months but now it can be told:

In May of 2020, Focus on the Family will be hosting one of the largest pro-life events in our 43-year history.

We’re calling it ALIVE 2020 and we’re going to be simultaneously celebrating life in 5 new cities with award-winning musical artists, inspiring speakers and – of course, the star of the show – live ultrasounds of third-trimester babies.

Is it Possible to Redeem Halloween?

Do you have strong feelings about Halloween?  Tomorrow’s annual holiday elicits strong feelings on both sides of the spectrum.

With its admittedly pagan origins, involving druids, ghosts and goblins, among other things, there are Christians who deliberately ignore even the seemingly innocent aspects of the day.

At the same time, there are many of us who choose to focus on the happier side. Many churches even hold “harvest” festivals and invite children to dress up in fun costumes.

Victory in the Fight to Keep Seven-Year-Old James Younger from Being Transitioned into a Girl

By now you’ve likely heard that earlier this week, a Lonestar state jury ruled in an 11 to 1 decision that James Younger, the son of Jeffrey Younger, be transitioned due to the preferences of his non-biological mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas.

Simply put, officials had, in essence, mandated that a seven-year-old boy be put on puberty-blockers, pumped up with cross-sex hormones and eventually surgically castrated against the will of his father.

Thankfully, we received word on Thursday that the judge presiding in the case overruled the jury and granted joint custody to both the mom and dad.

Remembering My Friend H.B. London – and the Other Heroes in Our Pulpits

Regular readers of my blog will remember me mentioning my dear friend, the late Reverend H.B. London.

H.B. was Focus on the Family’s “Pastor to Pastors” for over 20 years, a devoted shepherd who understood the challenges of ministry because he served several churches for more than two decades.

Today is the one-year anniversary of H.B.’s promotion to Glory, and so I thought it would be appropriate to use this occasion to remember a good man – and encourage all of you to thank your pastor for the incalculable contribution they are making in your life and the lives of others.

Guest Post: Navy SEALS Prepare to Bike 1,000 Miles in 10 Days to Fundraise for Neuro-Rehab Patients

By: Zachary Mettler

The Daily Citizen had the great privilege to interview three former Navy SEALS, two of whom are participating in a 1,000 mile long, 10 day bike ride to raise money for the VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA. The SEALS have formed an organization, Beyond the Teams, which seeks to, “fight for those who can’t fight for themselves by bringing awareness and financial resources to any disabled military personnel, veterans, handicapped children, and others.”

For Beyond the Teams’ first project, five former SEALS will bike down the east coast from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Fort Pierce, Florida.

We Can Counter Planned Parenthood’s Devious Plot to Influence Hollywood

It’s likely that you’ve never heard of Caren Spruch, but according to a recent article in the Washington Post, the 62-year-old is working quietly behind the scenes in Hollywood to advance Planned Parenthood’s deadly agenda.

According to her online bio, Ms. Spruch is the “director of arts and entertainment engagement” for an organization responsible for over 300,000 abortions each year in America.

If it sounds oxymoronic to you to put “abortion” and “entertainment” in the same sentence, you wouldn’t be alone.
