Homemade Meals for Busy Families

You’re probably running a lot of directions at high speed. You’re so busy that even after your workday ends, there’s more work to be done. Somebody has to pick up the kids from soccer practice and run to the store for groceries. After that, you still have to get home and make dinner, which can take a couple of hours once you cook, eat and clean up the mess.

Who’s got time for that?

Hiring a chef or buying pre-packaged dinners can be expensive. And while cooking can itself be a time of togetherness, you probably don’t want to spend all of your free time in the kitchen.

I think I have a good answer for you. Actually, I should say, Mary Beth Lagerborg has a good answer for you. She’s the author of Once-A-Month Cooking: Family Favorites. She’s also my guest on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.

Dinner time was always a priority in the Daly household. Jean gets the credit for that. She worked hard to ensure that our whole family was together around the table for the evening meal. It would have been easy to set out a plate of sandwiches that each of us could grab as we scurried through the kitchen on our way to somewhere else apart from each other. Instead, we all enjoyed table time together, talked about our day and generally caught up without interruptions.

But what do you do when you’re too busy to fix a big meal every night?

Mary Beth will teach you how to create meal plans that get you out of the kitchen and to the dinner table. She also shares how to make eating together as a family a time for socializing, celebrating, and encouraging one another.

Join me for my full conversation with Mary Beth Lagerborg on your local radio station, online, on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or listen on our free phone app.

Before I close, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us through our monthly “Friends of Focus on the Family” program. When you do, I’ll send you a copy of Mary Beth’s book Once-A-Month Cooking: Family Favorites. It’s full of delicious, family-friendly recipes divided into three cooking specialties: gourmet, summertime, and gluten-free. It’s our gift as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ. You’ll also receive member-exclusive benefits.
