How to Raise Strong Believers

If God is good, why does He allow evil to exist?

Maybe your kids have asked you that to see how you answer. Have you ever asked your kids that question to see how they answer?

Or how about these?

  • Where did the universe come from?
  • Do science and religion contradict each other?
  • Do all religions worship the same God?
  • How do we know God hears and answers prayer?

Natasha Crain didn’t know how to answer such important questions. Or how to teach her children the truth. It bothered her because she realized that her children were growing up in a much different world than the one in which she had grown up, and she felt ill equipped.

She also realized that if her children had a medical problem, she would do all the research she could to make sure the right decisions were being made. Likewise, if her kids’ spiritual lives were important, shouldn’t she do all she could to guide them toward the right path?

Her quest led her to write her book Talking with Your Kids About God: 30 Conversations Every Christian Parent Must Have. It’s a book full of deep faith questions – 30 in all – divided into 5 categories:

  • The existence of God
  • Science and God
  • The nature of God
  • Believing in God
  • The difference God makes

Each question is one even older believers in Christ should be able to answer. And each chapter includes a conversation guide that will help you engage your children in discussion. There are also different levels of questions, so it’s helpful to parents with kids of any age.

Think of those conversations as something of an inoculation process. You’re exposing your children to important questions in a biblical way they can understand before they encounter them out in the world without your influence.

Natasha’s process makes it safe for children to ask questions when they don’t understand something or when they have doubts. Learn how to help your children have a relationship with a God they can’t see on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “How to Raise Strong Believers.” Hear it on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

For a gift of any amount, we’d like to offer you a copy of Natasha Crain’s book Talking with Your Kids About God: 30 Conversations Every Christian Parent Must Have. Visit our website or give us a call at 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459). If you can’t afford it, we’ll find a way to get it to you.

If you’re not acquainted with God’s promises of abundant life, enjoy our free online booklet called, “Coming Home: An Invitation to Join God’s Family.” No matter how deep your sin or your problems, God’s love is deeper still.
